10th Anniversary

Established in 2007, the Confucius Institute in Auckland is 10 years old now. We are going to have a series of programmes to mark our tenth anniversary.

School Chinese Video Competition, Auckland 2017

你们好 Nimen Hao!

Congratulations, you are one of the thousands of students who are learning Chinese in New Zealand. Since the time you started to learn the  language, you have opened the door to a completely new world - a place known for the pandas, Kung Fu, Great Wall, billions of people and many other amazing things. Is it cool to be able to speak Mandarin? 

Today, in the wider Auckland region, there are nearly thirty thousand  school children, from Year 1 new entrants to Year 13 students, learning Mandarin. Imagine how many more in all of  New Zealand or the whole wide world!

The Confucius Institute in Auckland since it started in 2007 has been working to support Chinese language and culture in lots of schools. This year, CI Auckland is 10 years old! So to celebrate, we would like to invite you, all the Chinese learners in the wider Auckland region, to send us a  virtual birthday greetings  showcasing your Chinese talents – language and culture. Share your Chinese journey and make it fun!

All are welcome. Let us learn Chinese with fun and share your story.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

THEME: Happy Birthday, CI Auckland

ELIGIBILITY: Open to students from Year 1-13 living in the wider Auckland region (including Waikato and Northland regions).

CATEGORIES: 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The video should not exceed 120 seconds (two minutes).
  2. Videos must contain only original material. Submissions cannot contain copyrighted music or images, unless you have authorization proof to use them.
  3. Each video must have one Lead Producer to serve as the main contact person. Recognition and prizes will be given to the lead producer and all those listed as co-producers on the entry form.
  4. Entries must be submitted as YouTube links at the competition website (http://woobox.com/mwxt8z).
  5. All entries should include a 10 second full-screen “title screen” with the following information:

TIMETABLE:

  1. Registration and Submission: 20 July 2017 to 20 August 2017.
  2. Display and Voting: 25 August 2017 to 25 September 2017.
  3. Prize-Giving: 16 October 2017

JUDGING:   

  1. A most popular production will be awarded by the online voting (one vote per IP address per day).
  2. A judge panel will be convened by the Confucius Institute in Auckland to select one Best Video Production in each category. The judges’ decision is final.
  3. The judging criteria are:

  1.  One Most Popular Production selected by online voting: $500
  2. Category A:
    • Best Production: $500
    • Second Place Winner: $300
  3. Category B:
    • Best Production: $500
    • Second Place Winner: $300
  4. Category C:
    • Best Production: $500
    • Second Place Winner: $300

COPYRIGHT:

  1. It is the responsibility of the producers to ensure that each person appearing in the video has given their consent.
  2. Content must comply with all laws of New Zealand.
  3. Ownership of the video project remains with the entrant, while the Confucius Institute in Auckland has the full right to use and/or reproduce their submitted video for promotional purposes without notification or further compensation.
