New Lynn School launch their Confucius Classroom
New Lynn school launch their Confucius Classroom amidst Chinese entertainment and fanfare.
New Lynn School officially launched their Confucius Classroom on Thursday 23 July amid speeches, a fan dance, Chinese role plays and music played by the school orchestra.
Ms Song Chenmao, Deputy Consul-General and Mr Daniel Fang, Education Consul from the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China and other VIPs were present to celebrate the occasion. Ms Song congratulated New Lynn on their achievement and highlighted the importance of New Zealand and China relations before unveiling the Confucius Classroom plaque with Mr Greg Roebuck, the principal.
Janine Chin, Manager at Confucius Institute also attended and said “Being a Confucius Classroom means you can have an even better Chinese programme.” She commended Greg Roebuck, the principal and the school teaching staff on their Chinese language commitment to date which has seen students grow and use their Chinese more confidently.
“Mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world” she said. “Learning Chinese enables you to learn many new things and make lots of new friends. Keep on learning.”
