Auckland Lantern Festival 2022 scheduled for 10 –13 February has been cancelled.

Following New Zealand’s move to the red setting of the Covid-19 Protection Framework, the 2022 Auckland Lantern Festival at the Auckland Showgrounds will not be going ahead.

You can still experience the festival’s sights and sounds with our specially curated online festival programme, live from 1 February at aucklandnz.com/lantern and celebrate the Chinese New Year wherever you are.

Auckland Lantern Festival 2022 is back with a roar.

Celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome in the Year of the Tiger at Auckland Showgrounds, 10-13 February 2022.

The Auckland Lantern Festival is Auckland’s biggest cultural festival and New Zealand’s premier annual four-day festival celebrating Chinese New Year, Chinese culture and Auckland’s Chinese communities.

This free, popular, family-friendly festival showcases hundreds of elaborate handmade Chinese lanterns, cultural song, music, and dance performances, craft demonstrations, sponsor activations and competitions, retail and food stalls, and ends with a stunning fireworks display.
