2022 Chinese Bridge Speech Competitions start with new features

Urgent notice about the National Final of the Secondary School Category

It has recently been announced that the international Chinese Bridge competitions in 2022 would be held in August and September, much earlier than in previous years. The new schedules have had an impact on our Auckland regional and NZ national preliminary rounds of Chinese Bridge, especially in the secondary and primary categories. A few changes have to be made accordingly.

  1. The Secondary Schools Category national final, scheduled on August 14, will be cancelled. No national final this year. An alternative national event to celebrate the students’ achievements will be held in Auckland on 24 September. More details will be announced soon.
  2. The Secondary Schools Category’s top winners in the Auckland regional final, scheduled on 19 June, will be selected and recommended to the global Chinese Bridge immediately.
  3. In the Primary Schools Category, the regional programme will be run in August and September, as planned. However, no individual winners will be recommended to the global Chinese Bridge. It will be a 100% local event.
  4. There are no changes in the Tertiary Category.

Anyway, we are still looking forward to welcoming young Kiwi Chinese learners and cheering for your achievements in the Auckland regional Chinese Bridge competitions. There are a few new features in the programme that should be noted.

  • This year, the Auckland regional Chinese Bridge competition has extended to the primary school level, with an Individual Category and a Group Category for students from Year 1 to  8. The competition at the Primary level will weigh more on the Chinese cultural talents, in addition to the language skills.
  • At the Secondary School level, the junior and senior secondary categories have been merged into ONE category, open to the secondary school students from Year 9 to 13.

The Auckland regional competitions are open to all eligible students in the wider Auckland region, including Waikato and Northland. All the regional competitions will be held online.
